Happiness Ambassadors
Happiness Ambassadors 2025- 2026
Rushbrook Happiness Ambassadors hold a very important role in all areas of academy life. Our Happiness Ambassadors act as positive role models and promoting emotional well-being, kindness, and a positive school environment and support others to be the best version of themselves.
At the start of each academic year, children from Y2 through to Y6 can apply to be a Happiness Ambassador. If successful, the children are awarded their ‘golden jumper’.
Not only do the children act as positive role models, they actively support positive playtimes and lunchtimes as well as holding restorative conversations.
Role and Responsibilities of a Happiness Ambassadors
1. Promoting Positivity and Kindness
- Happiness Ambassadors lead kindness campaigns (e.g., “Kindness Week”, “Compliment Day”).
- Encourage inclusive play at break times.
- Spot and highlight acts of kindness among peers.
2. Listening and Supporting Peers
- They are a friendly face that others can talk to if they’re feeling sad or left out.
- Help classmates find someone to play with or talk to.
- Let teachers or support staff know if a child seems upset or needs help.
3. Organise Wellbeing Activities
- The Ambassadors plan/ lead simple activities that promote happiness and Wellbeing (e.g., gratitude wall, joke-of-the-day, mindfulness moments).
- Assist staff in organising events such as “Mental Health Awareness Week” or “Wellbeing Wednesdays”.
4. Being a Positive Role Model
- Demonstrate good behavior, emotional intelligence, and empathy.
- Set an example by managing their own emotions calmly and respectfully.
5. Feedback and Peer Voice
- Collect ideas or suggestions from classmates about what makes them happy at school.
- Share feedback with teachers or the school parliament on how to improve the school environment.
6. Creating a Welcoming Environment
- Welcome new students and help them settle in.
- Support children who may be shy, anxious, or struggling to make friends.

🏫 Support from Staff
- The Happiness Ambassadors are trained by our Resilience coach Nic Dux and use School’s Superpowers. They also recieve regular training and workshops on emotional literacy, listening skills, peer support. They have regular check-ins with the Principal and the Assistant Principal for Inclusion. There is clear guidance on boundaries (i.e., when to involve an adult)
