Excitement is brewing at Rushbrook

In January, work began to install a new multi-use games area (MUGA) on our school playing field, with Black Cat Building Consultants leading the project.

The new pitch will enable children to participate in a range of sports, which form a major part of the PE and PSHE curriculum, as well as many extra-curricular activities, all-year round. From the children at breakfast club to those participating in competitive sports after school, and everything in between, this is going to bring huge benefits for the Rushbrook family.

Mr Carroll, Principal at Rushbrook Primary Academy, enthused: “This is something that has been on our wish list for some time, and now, thanks to Bright Futures, it’s starting to take shape from what was once an unusable area of the school field. The transformation has been amazing, and the children have really enjoyed seeing the project take shape. The whole Rushbrook family is counting down the days until the project is finished and we can all start using the pitch.”

Importantly, having access to this facility will enable children to regain their focus on both their physical and mental health, following the pandemic. The same will apply to the Rushbrook community and both local partners and stakeholders who will use the facility e.g., parents and carers will be able to participate in the Daily Mile with their children. The site is fully accessible including for those with mobility issues which makes the facility more inclusive.

In 2021, Rushbrook Primary Academy benefited from the provision of two new canopies to the infant and junior classrooms, and refurbishment of the Nursery and other play areas.

The new pitch is expected to be ready next month, and we look forward to bringing you more news then.
